വാഷിങ്ടൺ: വിദേശ ജീവനക്കാർക്ക് സ്ഥിരതാമസത്തിനുള്ള ഗ്രീൻ കാർഡിന് അപേക്ഷിക്കാൻ തൊഴിലുടമകളെ സഹായിക്കുന്ന പെർമനന്റ് ലേബർ സർട്ടിഫിക്കേഷൻ (PERM) പ്രോഗ്രാമിൽനിന്ന് ഇന്ത്യയിലെ മുൻനിര ഐ.ടി. കമ്പനികളായ ഇൻഫോസിസ്, ടി.സി.എസ്, വിപ്രോ, എച്ച്.സി.എൽ. എന്നിവയെ സസ്പെൻഡ് ചെയ്ത് അമേരിക്കൻ ലേബർ ഡിപ്പാർട്ട്മെന്റ്. വ്യാപകമായ ക്രമക്കേടുകൾ നടന്നു എന്ന ആരോപിച്ചാണ് നടപടി.
ഇന്ത്യൻ കമ്പനികൾക്ക് പുറമെ മൈക്രോസോഫ്റ്റ്, അഡോബി തുടങ്ങിയ ആഗോള ഭീമന്മാർക്കെതിരെയും ലേബർ ഡിപ്പാർട്ട്മെന്റ് നടപടി സ്വീകരിച്ചതായി യു.എസ്. ലേബർ സെക്രട്ടറി കീത്ത് സോണ്ടർലിങ് അറിയിച്ചു. അമേരിക്കയിൽ ഈ സംവിധാനം ഏറ്റവും കൂടുതൽ ദുരുപയോഗം ചെയ്തത് മൈക്രോസോഫ്റ്റ് ആണെന്ന് സോണ്ടർലിങ് കുറ്റപ്പെടുത്തി.
യോഗ്യരായ അമേരിക്കൻ ജീവനക്കാരെ ലഭിക്കുന്നില്ലെന്ന് കാണിച്ച് 2025-ൽ 6,000 അമേരിക്കൻ തൊഴിലാളികളെ മൈക്രോസോഫ്റ്റ് പിരിച്ചുവിട്ടതായി യു.എസ്. വൈസ് പ്രസിഡന്റ് ജെ.ഡി. വാൻസ് ആരോപിച്ചു. എന്നാൽ ഇതേ കാലയളവിൽ 6,000-ത്തിലധികം എച്ച്-1ബി വിസകളും 3,682 ഗ്രീൻകാർഡ് അപേക്ഷകളും മൈക്രോസോഫ്റ്റ് സമർപ്പിച്ചു. ഇതിൽ ആയിരത്തോളം അപേക്ഷകൾ അമേരിക്കൻ ജീവനക്കാരെ പിരിച്ചുവിട്ട ഒഴിവിലേക്ക് തന്നെയാണെന്നും വാൻസ് വ്യക്തമാക്കി. ഐ.ടി. കമ്പനികൾക്ക് പുറമെ ഹാർവാർഡ്, യേൽ, സ്റ്റാൻഫോർഡ് ഉൾപ്പെടെ ഒൻപത് പ്രമുഖ സർവകലാശാലകൾക്കെതിരെയും ലേബർ ഡിപ്പാർട്ട്മെന്റ് അന്വേഷണം പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചു.
