Tara was angry with her younger brother Tarun. He refused to throw the ball to her and held it tight in his hands. “Throw the ball to me, Tarun,” Tanvi, their elder sister shouted. Tarun shook his head and held on to the ball. Tara tried to snatch the ball from him. But he only ran away with it. Tara ran behind him. When she got close to him, she slapped him, angrily. Tarun dropped the ball and began to weep. Seeing this Tanvi ran out behind Tara and shouted: “Tara, hands are not for slapping.” “Why not? Tarun is naughty. He deserves a slap,” replied Tara. Tanvi looked at Tara’s angry face and then at Tarun’s sad face. She took Tarun’s left hand in her right and Tara’s right hand in her left.

Hands are for helping, said Tanvi.
What are hands for?
Hands are for pinching, said Tara;
Hands are for hugging, said Tanvi.
What are hands for?
Hands are for punching, said Tara;
Hands are for holding, said Tanvi.”,
  Tara began to smile and sing with Tanvi. Tarun too stopped crying and started laughing. Tara added, “We can wave a friendly ‘hi’ with our hands and also a fond farewell.” “ Of course,” said Tanvi. Then she hugged her siblings and then held their hands together. Forgetting the quarrel, Tarun and Tara walked hand in hand happily.
