തോറ്റും തട്ടിയും മുട്ടിയും ആറാംക്ലാസുവരെ മാത്രം ഔപചാരിക വിദ്യാഭ്യാസം നേടിയ കോഴിക്കോട് ചേന്നമംഗല്ലൂരിലെ നാട്ടിന്‍പുറത്തുകാരി ആമിന പാറക്കല്‍(72) ഇന്നൊരെഴുത്തുകാരിയാണ്. 24 വര്‍ഷങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് മുമ്പ് കാന്‍സര്‍ ബാധിതയായി ചികിത്സയിലിരിക്കെ വേദനയും ആധിയും കാരണം രാത്രി ഉറക്കമില്ലാതായപ്പോഴാണ്, മക്കള്‍ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ച ഡയറികളില്‍ ഉമ്മ ജീവിതമെഴുതിയത്. വേദന മറക്കാന്‍ എഴുതിയ ഓര്‍മക്കുറിപ്പുകള്‍ പളുങ്കുമണികള്‍ പോലെ തിളക്കമുറ്റ ജീവിതകഥകളാണെന്ന് തിരിച്ചറിഞ്ഞ കുടുംബം പിന്നെയൊന്നും ആലോചിക്കാന്‍ നിന്നില്ല. നാടിന്റെ ചരിത്രംകൂടി പറയുന്ന ഉമ്മയുടെ എഴുത്തുകള്‍ അങ്ങനെ മാതൃഭൂമി ബുക്‌സ് വഴി 'കോന്തലക്കിസ്സകള്‍' എന്ന പുസ്തകമായി വായനക്കാരിലേക്കെത്തി.
