Content Highlights: Thiruvananthapuram Corporation Mayor V.V. Rajesh strongly criticized the exorbitant food and beverage prices charged at movie theatres and multiplexes. He mocked the current situation by stating that moviegoers practically need to take a loan just to buy a cup of tea inside a theatre. Highlighting the price disparity, the Mayor pointed out that popcorn worth Rs 25–30 outside is being sold for Rs 250–300 inside cinema halls. He noted that families with young children are forced to spend over a thousand rupees just on basic snacks during a movie visit. Admitting that price regulation does not directly fall under his jurisdiction, he assured that the issue would be officially raised before the concerned authorities.
