കൊച്ചി: നിർമാതാവ് ജിയോ കുട്ടപ്പൻ (എൻ.ജി. ജോൺ-90) അന്തരിച്ചു. ബുധനാഴ്ച പുലർച്ചെ ഒന്നരയ്ക്ക് എറണാകുളം മെഡിക്കൽ സെന്റർ ആശുപത്രിയിലായിരുന്നു അന്ത്യം. ആദ്യകാല സിനിമാ നിർമാണ-വിതരണക്കമ്പനിയായ ജിയോ പിക്‌ചേഴ്‌സിന്റെ ബാനറിൽ ഒട്ടേറെ ചിത്രങ്ങൾ നിർമിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. മലയാള സിനിമാ ചരിത്രത്തിലെ ആദ്യകാല വിതരണക്കാരിൽ ഒരാളായ എൻ.എക്‌സ്. ജോർജിന്റെ മകനാണ് ജിയോ കുട്ടപ്പൻ എന്ന എൻ.ജി. ജോൺ.
ജിയോ കുട്ടപ്പൻ നിർമിച്ചവയിൽ ഏറെയും ഐ.വി. ശശി സിനിമകളാണ്. ഐ.വി. ശശിയുടെ ഇനിയും പുഴയൊഴുകും, ഏഴാം കടലിനക്കരെ, മീൻ, ഇന്നല്ലെങ്കിൽ നാളെ, ഈനാട്, ഇനിയെങ്കിലും, ഇത്രയും കാലം എന്നീ ചിത്രങ്ങൾ നിർമിച്ചു. ജെ. ശശികുമാറിന്റെ മിനിമോൾ, എം. കൃഷ്ണൻ നായർ സംവിധാനം ചെയ്ത രജനീഗന്ധി, ഭദ്രന്റെ ആറ്റുവഞ്ചി ഉലഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ, സുകുമാരനും മോഹൻലാലും പ്രധാന വേഷങ്ങളിലെത്തിയ മണിരത്‌നത്തിന്റെ മലയാള ചിത്രം ഉണരൂ തുടങ്ങി സിനിമകളുടെയും നിർമാതാവാണ്.
