ആയിരം ഇതളുകൾ ഉള്ള താമര, അതാണ് സഹസ്രദള പത്മം. ദേവീദേവന്‍മാരുടെ ഇരിപ്പിടമായി പുരാണങ്ങളില്‍ വിശേഷിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ഈ താമര കേരളത്തിന്‍റെ കാലാവസ്ഥയില്‍ അപൂർവമായാണ് വിരിഞ്ഞു കാണാറുള്ളത്. പാലക്കാട് ചിറ്റൂർ അണിക്കോട് എന്ന സ്ഥലത്ത് ഗുരുകുലം രാജേഷിന്റെ വീട്ടിലാണ് ഇത് വിരിഞ്ഞത്.

രാജേഷിനും  ഭാര്യ രാജേശ്വരിക്കും  താമരകളോട് പ്രത്യേക താല്പര്യമാണ്. 20 വ്യത്യസ്ത ഇനത്തിലുള്ള താമരകളും ഏഴ് തരത്തിലുള്ള ആമ്പലുകളും ഇവരുടെ വീട്ടിലുണ്ട്. എട്ടു മാസം മുൻപ് വീട്ടിലെ ചെടിച്ചട്ടിയിൽ വെള്ളമൊഴിച്ചു നട്ട താമര വിരിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ നാട്ടിൽ പലർക്കും ഇതൊരു കൗതുകമാണ്.
