People in Mavoor form human chain clamouring for development

Kozhikode: Hundreds of people from Mavoor panchayath linked hands to form a human chain from Mavoor to Cheruppa demanding that the government gainfully utilise the 400 acres of land given on lease in 1957 to set up Gwaliyor Rayons during the tenure of the first EMS ministry. The land has been lying idle since 2001, when the factory wound up operations. Noted historian M G S Narayanan inaugurated the activity in which women and children too participated. Award-winning writer, K P Ramanunni delivered the presidential address. The local people expect the government to use the land more productively, thus ensuring employment opportunities for them.
