Prime Minister clips Home Minister’s powers

New Delhi: Government revamping law in the way Prime Minister can interfere in the appointment of top officials in Central Administrative Services. The association of Union Home Minister’s partnership has been cut short in appointments. The Home Minister’s responsibility has been cut down to counter sign the ratification of the Prime Minister. Earlier the opinion of Home Minister had the top priority for the appointment of Joint Secretary to higher posts. Now on the decision making will be done by the Prime Minister. The Establishment officer and Cabinet Secretary will thus get more power on the appointment of top officials.
