‘Kurinji’ blooms again turning Peerumedu a sea of blue

Peerumedu: Kurinji flower (Strobilanthes Kunthiana) has bloomed yet again turning the mountain ranges of Peerumedu into a sea of blue. But this time the bloomed Kurinjis are not the usual Neelakurinji but a different variety known as ‘Mettukurinji’. At first sight, these flowers seem no difference with the original Neelakurinji but a close look would prove otherwise. Unlike ‘Neelakurinji’, these flowers will blossom in every three years. Scientists say that there are around 300 varieties of ‘Neelakurinji’ flowers in the world.
