Nod for Thachankary to go abroad despite IAS objection

Kochi: The Home department has approved DGP’s recommendation to send Tomin J Thachankary to attend Phase V mid-career training in Hyderabad Police Academy and America, which will help him to rise in IPS echelons. The same DGP had earlier wanted to review his IPS credentials. This is despite the damning note of Dr. Nivedita P Haran, Principal Secretary {Home} on the file seeking approval for Thachankary’s trip: “an officer with his background will only vitiate the training atmosphere that will only adversely impact on the other trainees. Nominating him could only weaken the disciplinary case against him and the stand of the government before the Court.”
