Govt to demand Saudi to reconsider 20% cut in Hajj quota

New Delhi: Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj has said that India will demand for the withdrawal of the 20% cut in the Hajj quota to Saudi Arabia. Last year 1, 75,000 Hajj pilgrims have travelled from India and with the new cut in Hajj quota by Saudi would make 34,000 of the pilgrims to lose their chance of Hajj pilgrim this year. Minister also said there is no much facility for the pilgrims from Indian in Saudi and she added India government will talk with Saudi government in implementing a permanent facility for the Indian pilgrims in Mecca. E T Muhammed Basheer who visited the foreign minister in this regard has said that they have demanded to consider India as a single unit while providing Hajj quota.
