Tainted IPS officer in key post

Kochi: Cabinet without heeding to KPCC’s instruction not to appoint tainted officers in key positions, appointed G Lakshman who is facing stringent disciplinary action including severe warning. The right to information document gives evidence on this. He got first disciplinary action over the flaw in passport verification during his tenure as Thiruvananthapuram Rural SP in 2005. He worked with Mumbai Stock Exchange by taking medical leave and thus cheating government. Though DGP demanded action, he was given severe warning and let off by Home department. At this juncture in a government notification on January 29, Lakshman was appointed as SUPPLYCO MD as per the special interest of Minister Anoop Jacob.
