Probe against Tom Jose IAS over suspect estate deal

Kochi: The government is to probe the financial transaction of PWD Principal Secretary Tom Jose IAS related to his acquiring estate in Sindhudurg in Maharashtra in 2010 during his tenure as secretary in PWD. Chief Secretary has demanded an explanation from him for not seeking prior permission as mandated by AIS Conduct rules. Tom Jose said that P J Davis and Dr. Jose gave re. 1.23 crore and re. 40 lakh was from his personal funds. Bank statements of this deal and PAN card numbers of these individuals have been sought. An amount of re. 25 lakh was waived by the estate owner Santhosh. If this explanation is found unsatisfactory a high-level probe will be initiated.
