Inmate-fleeing orphanage lacks official recognition

Malappuram: 8 tribal inmates of the 32 in BEM Boys Home, Parapperi went missing in the morning. Even as the authorities launched a search, locals spotted them in Kodakkal bus stop, and informed the police and Child Line. All the 8, who had reached the home 5 days back from Vallathode in Attappadi said that they had fled unable to withstand the torture. Child Welfare Committee chairperson Sharif Ullath made the shocking revelation that the home has no official recognition. Children also told him that one recruiter Johnson arranges for groups of children to be trafficked to such orphanages. The batch of 8 has now been shifted to Thavanoor children’s home.
