Terming his government as the custodian of peoples’ hopes PM Modi went into conciliatory mode, promising to work not on the basis of numbers but “on the basis of collective decision-making.” He emphasised extending technology to villages and also envisaged re-branding India as “skilled India’ from “scam India.” He reminded that governments should serve the poor and ritually invoked the name of the Mahatma. He was delivering his first address to the joint houses of the parliament as part of the customary motion of thanks to President's address.
