Girls to save Ashtamudi River

Kollam: Girl students in a rare initiative have come forward to save a dying river in Kollam. Teachers along with people from various strata too joined with them in their initiative. The student of Sree Narayana Women College and their teachers have devised various plans to revive the already maligned Ashtamudi Lake. Water resources are a virtue to a region but when people turns it to be a curse by dumping wastes in it and by conducting such a programme we are giving those people a strong message, says Shirley P Ananad, Principal. The programme was inaugurated by City Police Commissioner Debesh Kumar Behera. The students have also conducted various programmes and they even prepared a song to save the Ashtamudi Lake.
