Overture to SAARC countries: @ Big Debate

In a ‘flamboyant’ regional outreach, for the first time SAARC Heads of State including Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif, Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina have been invited to Modi's swearing-in as PM on May 26th. Foreign Secretary Sujatha Singh has written to SAARC counterparts inviting their leaders to attend the ceremony. Other leaders are - Afghan Pres Hamid Karzai, Bhutan PM Tshering Tobgay, Nepal PM Sushil Koirala and Maldivian Pres Abdul Gayoom. SAARC was mooted in 1980 by Bangla Pres Ziaur Rahman and formed in 1983 during Mrs. Gandhi’s era. News@9 hosts veteran diplomats K P Fabian, M K Bhadrakumar and T P Sreenivasan on the issue.
