CU sanctions new self-financing colleges amidst controversy

Kozhikode: The sanctioning of 35 new colleges by Calicut varsity syndicate has stirred the usual controversy. Documents accessed by ‘Mathrubhumi News’ reveal that most of these haven’t submitted basic documents to prove that managements own the mandatory 5 acres to set up colleges. Former registrar T K Narayanan alleges that “blanket permission was given to defective, not inspected or recommended colleges pandering to commercial interests, and involving corruption.” 17 colleges each haven’t submitted the legal scrutiny certificate and the mandatory affidavit. 7 colleges have not submitted even the possession certificate of land.
