North Indian lobby charges exorbitant prices for text books

Kochi: CBSE/ ICSE school managements in collusion with textbook distributors are fleecing parents by charging exorbitant prices for text books. An investigation by ‘Mathrubhumi News’ unearthed the machinations of the North Indian publishing lobby who pay heavy commission to ensure that students have no choice but to buy books five-fold costlier than local textbooks. These unscrupulous publishers mark up the price as per their whims. There is no system in place to monitor and regulate such malpractice. SFI’s Vikas T Nair, School Management Assn State Secretary Indira Rajan and Education Minister P K Abdu Rabb respond to the revelation.
