Monkey fever confirmed in state

Alappuzha: Monkey fever when spread to humans turn fatal has been reported for the first time in state. The investigation soon after the mass death of monkeys in Alappuzha district confirmed the disease. Around ten monkeys died in Budhanur, Vallikkavu in Alappuzha district in the past one month. The brain of monkeys died of this disease was examined in Palod lab. Later it was taken to Shimoga in Karnataka for detailed examination to confirm whether the death was due to monkey fever. The examination at Shimoga confirmed the disease as monkey fever.
