Animal sacrifice still prevalent in the state

Kollam: Kerala has banned the animal sacrifice a decade ago. But a temple named Kottavasalloor near Kerala-Tamilnadu border in Kollam is still practicing the heinous act of killing animals for the sake of divinity. Since the prohibition of the act prevails in the state, the temple authorities have found a way to avoid being caught. They are killing the animal some 25 meter away from the Kerala border in Tamilnadu. Many locals said that the ritual is taking place in the temple for quite some time. The local Tamilian population from Thoothukudi, Thenkasi, and Shencottai are largely coming to the temple to practice this.
