Idukki dam shutter opening: CM conducts urgent meeting

T'Puram: A high-level meeting was convened under chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan to discuss about the precautions that have to be taken if the shutters of the Idukki dam are to be opened. As per the statistics on Friday, the water level in the dam had reached 2392 feet. The maximum capacity of the reservoir is 2403 feet. The authorities are planning to open the shutters as the water level continues to rise. Revenue minister E Chandrasekharan, water resource minister Mathew T Thomas, Revenue additional chief secretary P H Kurian, water resource secratary Tinku Biswal, Electricity board CMD N S Pillai, and disaster management authority member secretary Sekhar Kuriakose attended the meeting.
