Thiruvananthapuram: Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan lashed out at the police at a programme held in Thiruvananthapuram today. Speaking at the function, Pinarayi said the government is trying hard to end illegal practices like third degree torture and the police must not set an example of the `fence eating its own crop'. The CM was talking on the topic ‘Human Rights and Police’ in a program held in Thiruvananthapuram. The responsibility of the police is to protect the dignity and rights of common people. But, complaints are being raised about the acts of police and other private agencies that violate human rights. Police should use their power responsibly. They should stand for justice, he said.
