Flood havoc: Govt to announce more assistance for Kuttanad

Alappuzha: The government will announce more assistance for flood-affected areas in the state including the Kuttanad region. The cabinet meeting tomorrow will decide on matters including free ration for the needy. The supply of drinking water to the rehabilitation camps has begun in Kuttanad. Farmers who have faced loss in agriculture will get more benefits. 50% percent of the cost for the construction of bund will be provided in advance. There is also a plan to provide compensation for bund breach by including it within the ambit of crop loss. According to estimates, a crop loss worth Rs. 226 crore has taken place.
