Kerala to end Nookukooli from May 1

Thiruvananthapuram: The state government has decided to end Nookukooli from May 1. The decision was endorsed by prominent Trade Unions in the state. This was decided in a meeting headed by the chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The meeting called by the chief minister was attended by Labour minister T P Ramakrishnan and state leaders of national trade union organisations in which they unilaterally decided to back the government move to abolish nookukooli. The Chief Minister informed that anyone found to demand nookukooli will be acted upon sternly. Following the state meet, collectors of their respective districts will call for a meeting with TU leaders of the district before May 1.
