Kerala seeks to lower Vigilance Director’s rank to ADGP

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Government has written to the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, seeking to lower the rank of the Vigilance Director by one notch to ADGP. Currently, the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) is headed by an officer in the DGP rank. The state, in its letter, has pointed out the dearth of efficient officers as a reason for the move. It has requested the Ministry to convert the Vigilance chief’s post, now at cadre level, to an ex-cadre post. The state has also recommended elevating the rank of Fire and Rescue Service Director to DGP level. However, such decisions are taken at the Cadre Review Committee meeting which is held once in three years.
