Manjeri police book PV Anvar MLA in cheating case

Kozhikode: The Manjeri police on Thursday registered a case against Nilambur MLA PV Anvar for allegedly swindling Rs 50 lakh from a person after promising to make him a partner in quarry business. The Manjeri chief magistrate court had ordered a probe into the incident. In his complaint, Naduthodi Salim of Pattarkadavu alleged that he gave Rs 50 lakh to Anvar after he promised to make him a partner in crusher plant business at Thanneerpanthal panchayat in Karnataka. The deal had taken place in 2012. Salim says he handed over Anwar a cheque of Rs 10 lakh and the rest of the amount in cash. However, the MLA has not yet returned the principal amount or profit share, he rued.
