Kurinji sanctuary: K Raju goes soft on small-scale settlers

T'puram: Forest minister K Raju has taken the stand that small-scale settlers in the Neelakurinji sanctuary need not be forcibly evicted. The minister has put forth suggestion in the report submitted to the chief minister after visiting Munnar. The settlers who are ready to leave the place should be rehabilitated. Illegal encroachers should be evicted and survey procedures should be completed soon, the report says. According to the report, the settlers need not evicted forcibly from places like Kadavari. However, agricultural areas like Kadavari are situated in one of the key areas in the sanctuary. The place lies close to the Tamil Nadu border.
