Perumbavoor murder: Ameer gets death sentence

Kochi: The Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court, which found Assam-native Ameer Ul Islam guilty in the murder of a law student in Perumbavoor, has pronounced death sentence. The court observed it is the rarest of rare case and termed it a brutal murder. Ameer will be shifted to the Central Prison in Viyyur. A 15-page case verdict was read in the court. The verdict comes after 19 months. The murder took place on April 28, 2016. After his conviction in the case, the court heard the arguments of both the defence and the prosecution on Wednesday. The Prosecution had submitted before the court that the murder was brutal. Comparing the case with the Nirbhaya case, the Prosecution had sought death penalty for convict.
