IOC terminal: Police lathicharge Puthuvype protestors

Kochi: Several people were injured when a protest against the construction of an IOC plant at Puthuvype turned violent and police resorted to lathi charge. Police hurled lathis against women and children too.The residents of Puthuvype launched an agitation against the construction of an LPG terminal at Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) plant in Puthuvype. The residents alleged that the construction on the LPG terminal was being carried out in violating the National Green Tribunal rules.The residents sought action against DCP Yathish Chandran who had dealt with the protestors and began a sit-in.
