Conceding defeat Sheila Dikshit steps down

New Delhi: Fifteen years of rule ended in a shocking loss for Chief Minister Sheila Dikshi at the hands of a political novice, Aravind Kejriwal. Contesting confidently for the fourth time on the Congress ticket, she was roundly trounced by her rival of Aam Aadmi party. Accepting defeat graciously, she handed in her resignation. She said that the reasons behind the defeat would be probed in a contest in which the Congress was always fighting from the rear. Two main factors that put Congress on the back foot in the triangular fight were price rise and the issue of women’s security. Still, she goes down in history as the longest serving woman Chief Minister of the country.
