Innovative goat shed from KVASU

Wayanad: Asst Prof Dr. John Abraham of Kerala Veterinary & Animal Sciences University {KVASU} has developed a mobile goat shed ideal for cramped spaces and terraces. There are separate compartments for billies, nannies and kids. An automatic supply of water from overhead storage, ensuring a cool interior, to a bin also doubles as feeding trough. Jack-fruit leaves can be hung inside. Attached paddock allows goats mobility. Urine and droppings collected in a tray are used in Ayurvedic formulations and as fertiliser, respectively. Weight gain has been noticed inside of a week. Costing about re.35,000, KVASU has applied for patent and is ready to supply on a commercial basis.
