LDF should help Plachimada villagers: Rajendra Singh

Palakkad: Renowned water-conservationist Rajendra Singh urged the LDF Government to re-send to the Centre the Plachimada Tribunal Bill regarding the compensation of re. 216.25 crore to be given to Plachimada residents. He was speaking after inaugurating the indefinite fast undertaken by the action council in front of the Collectorate demanding compensation for the pollution caused by Coca Cola. The Bill was earlier returned by the President to the Assembly in February 2016 citing that only the Green Tribunal had the right to order compensation for the over-exploitation of water and the pollution caused by dumping the sludge in the village by the Cola plant, which was closed in 2004.
