High Court flays Vigilance again

Kochi: The High Court again came down heavily against the Vigilance saying some outfits are functioning only to file complaints and the court is aware of all these. The HC said this while hearing the case against EP Jayarajan in nepotism row and the plea challenging the order in the appointment of Shankar Reddy as Vigilance director. The HC judge pointed out that the court is not revealing the source of such complaints now and said the Vigilance must function as per the guidelines laid out and not according to their own whims and fancies. The HC also asked if only the Vigilance has the authority to probe corruption-related cases? The court said any complaint must first be looked for its veracity.
