FBI denies Trump wiretap claim; confirms Russia probe

FBI Director James Comey confirmed for the first time that they are investigating possible ties between Trump's presidential campaign and Russia as Moscow sought to influence 2016 U.S. election. Comey refused to back away from his claim that Putin did not simply want Hillary to lose; he wanted Trump to win. Comey and Admiral Mike Rogers, director of the NSA, made clear that their investigations could last for months. Appearing before a congressional panel, Comey also publicly challenged Trump's claim that former President Obama wiretapped his 2016 campaign HQ in Trump Tower. Trump created a controversy when he tweeted without giving evidence that Obama had wiretapped his campaign.
