Consent for iron ore mining

Kozhikode: The mining kings of Ballari in Karnataka are eyeing on the hilly areas of Chakkittappara Panchayath in Kozhikode. The area is a wealthy land of iron ore. The MSPL Limited got the consent from the central government to mining in 2009. The ministry of mines gave consent of 406.45 hectre land for 30 years lease to this company for mining. By 2011, the state government also gave permission. Within two years as part of procedure completion they will get the final consent for mining. The ecologically fragile area was given permission for mining by breaking all laws. If this goes for final consent the Western Ghats will be affected badly.
