Irom Sharmila in Kerala for a 'quiet retreat'

Coimbatore: Human rights activist Irom Sharmila said that the people of Manipur must become more politically aware and that the victory of the BJP in the state was achieved with money and muscle power. Reaching Coimbatore on Tuesday morning, Sharmila said she had chosen Kerala as the people of the state had supported her in all times. "I would like to be away from my home state and have chosen Attapadi for a quiet retreat," she told mediapersons. Sharmila was upset and depressed with the election results as she could manage to secure only 90 votes, less than NOTA votes. Sharmila will spend a month in a meditation centre, owned by activist Uma Preman, in Attapadi.
