Death of Walayar siblings: 'Police made serious lapses'

Palakkad: It is alleged that the police failed miserably in the first phase of investigations of the Walayar rape case in which two sisters were found hanging. There are allegations that there were efforts on the part of the police to make the death of the elder child on January 13 look as suicide. The police FIR had stated that the elder child hanged herself to death because she was mentally disturbed. But the post mortem reports showed that she had been subjected to sexual abuse repeatedly. The surgeon had also expressed doubts that the child was subjected to unnatural sex as well.
