Fishing community feels they were left out in the budget

Kochi: The fishing community in the state are not too happy with the budget presented by Finance Minister Thomas Isaac. Various unions representing them say that this time too they were ignored in the budget. One of the main demands of doubling the fund earmarked for the fisheries sector was not met in the budget. The unions point out that the money earmarked in the budget is too low to meet the requirements of the fishing community including welfare measures. There was no subsidy announced for purchase of fishing gears and no new welfare schemes introduced. Overall the fishing community is unhappy with the budget.
