Cyber city shamed on New Year’s eve

Bengaluru: MG Road and Brigade road saw swarms of men mobbing revellers and groping women in the streets on New Year’s eve, despite the deployment of 1,500 policemen and more than 25 CCTVs installed in the area. It is alleged that the cops largely remained spectators and intervened only intermittently as unruly men on bikes, cars and on foot, went about their hooliganism. Male friends and relatives, who had a tough time protecting women from the lumpens, were thrashed for their labours. Some women, according to reports, had to take off their stilettos and run for help to lady police. The unsavoury scenes have since gone viral. The police version is that that there are no official complaints of molestation.
