Govt trying to make Jacob Thomas a party nominee: Opposition

T'puram: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala on Thursday alleged that the government is trying to make Vigilance Director Jacob Thomas a nominee of CPM. The decision on his letter was taken by the CPM availabl Secretariat meeting, he said, wondering how a person who got a political party's backing can operate independently. He said it is not the party, but the Chief Minister who should take a final call on the letter. In the absence of the Chief Minister, it was Minister A K Balan said the Opposition leader is making the allegation on the basis of false media reports. The party has not taken any decision on the matter and the government as well as the Minister are indeed the decision makers on this issue, he added.
