Dept-level enquiry recommended against Jacob Thomas

T'puram: The Kerala Public Expenditure and Review Committee has recommended department-level action against Vigilance head Jacob Thomas over charges of installing non-functional solar panels and purchasing solar accessories without permission. Installing solar panels in offices of the Ports Department and purchasing electronic equipment in haste without seeking permission had caused a huge loss to the exchequer and this was unearthed in the examination conducted. When Jacob Thomas was the Director of APS, the 14 offices of the Ports Department were installed with solar panels and lapses were unearthed in that. The 14 offices from Valliyathura to Beypore were installed with faulty solar panels.
