Affidavit opposing women’s entry to Sabarimala to stay

New Delhi: The affidavit submitted by the previous UDF government opposing the entry of women to Sabarimala Ayyappa temple will stay, the government pleader has informed the Supreme Court. The reconstituted bench chaired by Justice Dipak Mishra heard the arguments on Monday. 'If needed, the case will be handed over to the Constitution Bench,' the court said. The next hearing has been scheduled for November 7. In 2008, the then LDF government had submitted an affidavit favouring entry of women belonging to all age groups. Later, in 2016, the UDF government submitted an affidavit opposing entry of women.
