Nature conservation and development should go together

Ti'puram: Environment conservation policies should not hold back development and the government aims to strike a balance between the two, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said in a Facebook post. In his message to the public on World Environment Day today, he said the society should do away with blind, extremist and unscientific views about nature conservation which can be defined as “environmental fundamentalism.” Issues like waste treatment, resource depletion, energy misuse, illegal exploitation of natural resources and unscientific use of water should be studied carefully. The government is ready to formulate law for addressing these issues if needed.
