Controversial order withdrawn; RTI activists still confused

Kochi: The RTI activists alleged that withdrawing the office order issued by the Vigilance Director, that exempted 'T' branch of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau from the purview RTI act alone is not enough as the notification by the General Administration Department is still in existence. In the wake of widespread objection, the cabinet meeting convened here on Tuesday decided to withdraw the order issued by the GAD, but no orders were issued by the GAD, but the DG Vigilance issued an office order. It was alleged that the move has been made with an objective to hush up the details of corruption cases involving ministers.
