Gothrayanam showcases tribal riches of N-E States

Alappuzha: Gothrayanam-2016, a festival of tribal culture, performing arts and crafts, was held at Mannar. Kirtads, Kerala State Youth Welfare Board and Kerala Scheduled Tribes Development Department jointly organised the fest. Artists from north eastern States like Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Mizoram and Assam, apart from those from Kerala, performed at the 5-day festival. Tribal doctors with traditional medicines, including a steam bath using 66 herbs, and tribal food too were on offer. All five evenings were lit up by colourful costumes, dynamic dances and rustic tunes. Kirtads director S Bindu said that the interaction allowed folk to come to know of each other’s art forms.
