No more land for Karipur airport development

Malappuram: Residents near Karipur International Airport took an unanimous decision refusing to give up any more land for airport development. Due to this move the proposed airport development faces an uncertain future now. The airport authority had appropriated 340 acres of land 25 years ago for the construction of the present airport. They require an additional 137 acres of land for runway expansion and other developments. It is at such a juncture that the inhabitants announced their resolve not to yield. Around 300 people attended the meeting in Kondotty Panchayath. More than 170 families inhabit the area where the authorities have eyed property.
