Ruckus in Lok Sabha over CM's exclusion

New Delhi: Union home minister Rajnath Singh and the prime minister's office made it clear that they did not instruct the organisers of the R Sankar statue unveiling to exclude the chief minister from the list of speakers at the function. The programme was being organised by the SNDP Yogam and it was they who decided on the participants, said Rajnath Singh. He added that the chief minister had written a letter saying that he could not attend the function. MPs from Kerala KC Venugopal, Kodikunnil Suresh and MI Shanavas gave notice for a privilege motion on the issue but were denied by the Speaker. In the ruckus that followed, members from Kerala staged a walk out and sat on a dharna outside the House.
