Sharp increase in cyber crime cases across Kerala

Thiruvananthapuram: There has been a sharp increase in cyber crime cases registered in police stations across Kerala this year. Altogether 1558 such cases have been registered within a period of 2011-2014. But, alarmingly, the number of cases till November this year has crossed 1800. Out of which about 800 cases are related to misuse of internet and Facebook. Most of the accused and preys are youngsters within the age group 18 to 30. Also, the youths below an age group 18 connected to various crimes have also increased. There has been an almost 40 per cent annual increase in cyber crimes registered in India during the past two-three years, according to an official estimate.
