Strict action if strays are killed: DGP

T'puram: Kerala DGP T P Senkumar said that legal action should be taken against those who were engaged in illegal culling of stray dogs. He said he would give a suitable reply to the notice of the state Human Rights commission against his circular on action against stray dog culling. If the police had violated the High Court order on the issue, it was for the court to inquire into that, said the DGP. The Rights Commission had demanded explanation on how the DGP could bring out a circular to file cases against those killing strays in violation of the High Court order to kill violent dogs. The courts have permitted to kills dangerous strays only and not to kill them indiscriminately, the DGP explained.
